OTC prayer services are set in a traditional yet educational format, making the experience one of warmth and joy for both the experienced and non-experienced alike. OTC prayer services are open to all, regardless of educational background, commitment, affiliation, or level of Jewish observance. There is a palpable warmth that melts away any embarrassment for those unfamiliar with Hebrew or new to communal prayer. The services are user-friendly and are conducted in the traditional Hebrew as well as in the English language. Song and commentary add meaning and participation to the prayers. Children are included and most welcome. In keeping with our theme of an open house for all, no membership is required for OTC prayer services.
Our shul is more than just a Synagogue. Our Shul is a home for any Jew looking for a warm and spiritual place to grow. At OTC, everybody is welcome. Come when you want. Leave when you want. Bring the whole gang. And while the kids are making new friends at the kids-room, treat your soul to something special. With our non-judgemental "come as you are" attitude, you'll feel right at home. No matter where you live, work or study, if you are looking for a place to express your soul, this shul is for you. You may see yourself as Humanistic, Unafiliated, Reconstructionist, Reform, Conservative or Orthodox. At OTC we see you as Jewish. No labels. No differences.
Please join us for our weekly Kiddush immediately following the Shabbat morning service. Our Kiddush affords us a collective opportunity to partake in traditional delicious Shabbat cuisine, to share the news of the week, and enjoy the warmth and companionship that emanate from this community. All the traditional favourites - gefilte fish, cholent, and salads galore - complement a warm and friendly atmosphere. Stories, insights on the Parsha, singing and l'chaims make for an enjoyable and inspiring time.
