In 1997, Rabbi Menachem M. & Dina Blum planted a seed in a quiet Barrhaven neighbourhood and it has grown into an important pillar of Jewish continuity in Ottawa. The Ottawa Torah Centre (OTC) has undeniably evolved into a successful, multifaceted Jewish outreach organization, thriving because of its focus on warmth and acceptance.
OTC is a branch of the Chabad movement which has been at the forefront of rebuilding the Jewish community after the Holocaust. From headquarters in Brooklyn, New York, the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, inspired a generation of young couples to go out and spread Yiddishkeit. With endless love, devotion, and energy, his emissaries are rebuilding Judaism throughout the world. From Casablanca to Rio de Janeiro, Chabad has brought a positive, uplifting message to the Jewish people. Chabad is a beacon of light throughout the world.
In our community, OTC, our local Chabad branch, offers a full array of inclusive, creative, educational and social programs, as well as our Synagogue and Hebrew School services. OTC engages people of all ages and backgrounds, including those who may feel disconnected from their Jewish community and roots, providing them with meaningful Jewish experiences.
