As the Canadian penny is officially phased out, Ottawa Torah Centre (OTC) launches “Project Penny Exodus” from now until Passover. As we approach the holiday of Passover in which we celebrate our “Exodus” from Egypt, join us in sending-off our penny while helping those of our brethren who are unfortunately unable to celebrate the holiday in the fullest measure.
During the pre-Passover days, OTC will be distributing Shmurah Matzah and Passover food to needy people within our Jewish community. “Maot Chitim” (Passover funds for the poor) is one of the most significant observances of the Passover holiday.
You are invited to bring in your pennies—in any amount, in any kind of container—in support of “Project Penny Exodus”. Let’s utilize this opportunity to participate in this special ‘Mitzvah’ as we say goodbye to the penny. What better preparation can there be for our festival of “Exodus”?
